High Grade Buck Skin was obtained first from South American deer and later from US deer by a special tanning process. It is a very fine grained leather specially produced for the piano industry from about 1860 to 1960 by a family in upper New York State. We were able to scoop up some skins from an old inventory still in possession of the family. This buck skin was used in the finest pianos. We have sorted this buck skin by thickness. It is sold by the sq ft and also in smaller quantities. There is more variation in thickness on the material sold by the sqft than in the smaller pieces.
We offer the following buck skin categories:
- High Grade Buck Skin Strips
- Thick High Grade Buck Skin
- Medium Thick High Grade Buck Skin
- Thin High Grade Buck Skin
