These steel pins are not hardened, so they can be bent; available polished (plain steel), blued or nickel plated. some pins are blunt both ends (listed as blunt), others blunt one end and pointed at the other end (listed as pointed). The exception is the last listed item. These are 1" long nickel plated pins of diameter .096" (2.44mm), rounded one end, pointed at the opposing end.
These pins are used occasionally as hitch pins for achoring wire, more often as guide and balance pins. When used as guide pins or balance pince in clavichord and harpsichord keyboards, the nickel plated ones are preferable, since they are the smoothest ones and will not rust.
If you use blunt pins, it is advisable to place some candle wax on each pin before driving it into a pre-drilled hole, otherwise the pin might find a different path.
Use #xx drills to pre-drill in hardwood, #xx in soft or end grain.
